BCLib Neoforge Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to do anything in-game to use BCLib?
No. BCLib is a background library with no items, blocks or menus of its own. Once it's in your mods folder alongside the BetterX mods that need it, it works automatically.
Why do BetterEnd or BetterNether say BCLib is missing?
Those mods depend on BCLib, so they won't load without it. Make sure the NeoForge build of BCLib is in the same mods folder as them, then relaunch the game.
Does BCLib work on Fabric or Forge?
No. This version is built only for NeoForge. Fabric needs the original Fabric version of BCLib, and the older Forge loader isn't supported.
Do I need BCLib on the server too?
Yes. It runs on both client and server, so put it on both. If one side is missing it, you can get a connection refusal or a mod mismatch message when joining.
How can I tell BCLib loaded properly?
Open the Mods list from the main menu and look for BCLib in it. If it appears there and the game reaches the title screen without a crash, it loaded.
Is this the same as the original BCLib?
It's an unofficial NeoForge version meant to behave the same as the original Fabric BCLib, with changes only where NeoForge needed them. Features and behavior should match what BetterX mods expect.
My game crashes on launch and BCLib is in the crash report. What should I check first?
Check that every BetterX mod and BCLib are all NeoForge builds made for your Minecraft version, and that none are Fabric files. Mismatched or missing dependencies are the usual cause, so read the top of the report for what it says is missing or incompatible.
Can I use BCLib by itself without other mods?
You can install it, but it does nothing on its own. It only matters when another mod, such as BetterEnd or BetterNether, needs it.
Will BCLib change my existing world?
BCLib itself adds no gameplay, but the BetterX mods that use it can change world generation. For a clean experience with BetterEnd or BetterNether, start a new world, and back up any old one before adding those mods.
Does BCLib hurt performance or need settings changed?
It's a lightweight library and doesn't need setup. If you see lag, it's more likely from the larger BetterX mods or world generation than from BCLib itself.
