Ride a Horse Without a Saddle
Basic Bareback Riding
Once you have tamed a horse, you can mount it without equipping a saddle. Simply right-click the tamed horse to ride it as normal. The horse will respond to your movement controls and jump commands just as it would with a saddle.
Understanding Default Effects
By default, riding without a saddle applies the Slowness effect to both you and your horse. This reduces movement speed but does not prevent riding. If this effect is enabled in your config, you'll notice reduced speed while mounted bareback.
The horse must still be tamed before you can steer it—wild horses cannot be controlled. Once tamed, you have full control regardless of saddle status.
Tips for Bareback Riding
Bareback riding is ideal when you have multiple horses but limited saddles. You can freely switch between horses without needing to manage saddle inventory. For longer journeys where speed matters, consider using a saddle on your primary mount, or configure the slowness effect to be disabled if you prefer unimpeded travel.
