Do I need a saddle to ride horses with this mod?
No, this mod lets you ride tamed horses without a saddle. However, you'll experience slowness by default unless you disable it in the config or wear leather pants.
How do I stop getting the slowness effect when riding bareback?
You can either set shouldReceiveSlownessDuringRidingWithoutSaddle to false in the config, or wear leather pants while riding to negate the effect.
Can I take damage from riding without a saddle?
Damage is disabled by default, but you can enable it by setting shouldDamageDuringRidingWithoutSaddle to true in the config. Damage occurs every 15 seconds (configurable) and can be prevented by wearing leather pants.
Do leather pants break when I ride without a saddle?
Leather pants lose durability each time they prevent slowness or damage effects, but only if leatherPantsLoseDurabilityOnNegation is enabled in the config. You can disable this if you want leather pants to protect you indefinitely.
Does the horse still need to be tamed before I can ride it?
Yes, you must tame a horse first before you can steer it, just like with saddle riding. This mod only removes the saddle requirement, not the taming requirement.
Can I use a saddle with this mod?
Yes, you can still equip saddles on horses. When you do, the bareback effects (slowness and damage) won't apply, and you'll ride normally.
How do I change how often I take damage when riding bareback?
Edit the ticksBetweenDamage value in the config file. The default is 300 ticks (15 seconds); lower numbers mean more frequent damage.
Can I adjust how much damage I take per hit?
Yes, change the halfHeartDamageAmount setting in the config. The default is 2 (one full heart); higher values deal more damage per interval.
What happens if I'm wearing leather pants but don't have the feature enabled?
If leatherPantsNegateEffect is set to false in the config, leather pants won't protect you from slowness or damage, even if you're wearing them.
Can I turn off all negative effects from bareback riding?
Yes, disable both shouldReceiveSlownessDuringRidingWithoutSaddle and shouldDamageDuringRidingWithoutSaddle in the config to ride without any penalties.
