Ballistic Versatility Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get the Omni enchantment?
Find enchantment books inside Ominous Vaults, or defeat the final wave of pillagers during a raid to get a guaranteed drop from the raid leader. Apply the book to your crossbow at an anvil.
Can I use Omni on crossbows other than the vanilla one?
The Omni enchantment is designed for crossbows. Check your mod's configuration or documentation if you're using crossbows from other mods, as compatibility may vary.
What happens if I shoot a block with Omni?
The block places itself at the impact location, letting you build or repair structures from a distance. Dyes will paint the surface of blocks you hit instead of placing themselves.
Do fishing rods actually work as grappling hooks?
Yes—when you shoot a fishing rod, it pulls light mobs toward you, or pulls you toward heavy targets and blocks. This works like a true grappling hook for mobility and combat.
Can I shoot potions or splash potions?
Yes, potions and splash potions can be loaded into the offhand and fired as projectiles, applying their effects on impact similar to throwing them normally.
What's the difference between shooting TNT and End Crystals?
Both launch as live explosives that detonate on impact, but End Crystals deal additional damage and have different explosion properties. Experiment with both to see which suits your situation.
If I shoot armor at a mob, does it actually equip?
Yes, armor pieces fired from the crossbow will equip onto mobs or players they hit, replacing existing armor in that slot if applicable.
Can I use spawn eggs to deploy mobs far away?
Yes, load a spawn egg into your offhand and fire it to deploy that mob at the impact location, even across long distances or difficult terrain.
Do I need to reload the crossbow between shots?
Yes, you need to hold Right-Click to load the offhand item into the crossbow before each shot, just like loading a normal crossbow with arrows.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
Launching many projectiles or spawning multiple mobs rapidly can impact performance depending on your system. Avoid firing too many complex projectiles at once if you experience stuttering.
