Create a Poolrooms Level
Understanding Poolrooms Aesthetics
Poolrooms are characterized by flooded spaces with smooth walls, reflective water surfaces, and industrial architecture. This resource pack includes dedicated wet tiles and smooth wall textures designed specifically for this level type.
Building Your Poolrooms
1. Establish the water layer by filling your base area with water blocks. The pack's wet tile textures will display on submerged blocks, creating that distinctive flooded appearance.
2. Build walls using smooth wall blocks from the pack. These have a cleaner, more polished appearance than standard backrooms wallpaper—perfect for the poolrooms' institutional aesthetic.
3. Add structural pillars using brown wool or other pack textures to break up large water areas and create visual interest. These can be partially submerged for dramatic effect.
4. Layer in ceiling details with the industrial tiles. Combine dry and wet textures at the water line for a realistic waterlogged transition.
5. Use lighting carefully to create reflections on the water surface. Subtle light sources enhance the eerie, abandoned feeling while showcasing the texture work.
The contrast between smooth walls and industrial elements creates the unsettling liminal space characteristic of poolrooms.
