How to lower fire and shield so they stop blocking your view in PvP
Why use it
When you are burning, the vanilla fire overlay fills the bottom of your screen. A raised shield also covers part of your view. Axolotl Client has tweaks that lower both so you can keep tracking your opponent.
Steps
1. Open the Axolotl Client config screen (Right Shift by default, or whichever key you set in Controls).
2. Go to the Tweaks or rendering-related category, where the visual options live.
3. Find the low fire option and enable it.
4. Find the low shield option and enable it.
5. Check for any height or offset settings next to these options. If there are any, adjust them until the overlay sits low enough to see over but is still visible as a burning or blocking indicator.
6. Test it by setting yourself on fire with flint and steel or lava in a creative test world, and by holding up a shield.
Tips
- Keep the overlay visible but low. You still want to notice that you are on fire.
- If the overlay looks unchanged, confirm that the option really is switched on. Then check whether a resource pack or another rendering mod is overriding the overlay.
- Pair this with custom block outlines and hit color so the fight stays easy to read.
