How to Set Up AutoModpack on Your Server So Players Auto-Update

Server admins use AutoModpack to push a modpack to every connecting player automatically. The server holds the authoritative file list; clients pull from it.

Preparing the Server Side

1. Install AutoModpack on the server alongside your mod loader.

2. Build the modpack you want players to run — put the mods, configs, and other files in the server's modpack directory that AutoModpack manages.

3. Start the server once so AutoModpack generates its config and manifest files.

4. Configure which folders and files are included in the sync (for example mods, config, resourcepacks). Anything included will be downloaded to clients.

5. Set the host/source settings so clients know where to fetch files. AutoModpack can serve files directly from the server or from a configured host.

How Clients Experience It

When a player joins, AutoModpack compares their local files to the server manifest and downloads the differences before they enter the world. No manual modpack redistribution is needed.

Admin Tips

  • Keep the manifest in sync: whenever you add or remove a mod, restart or reload so the manifest updates.
  • Warn players that the server can place files in their game folder, so only trusted servers should use this.
  • Test with a clean client profile first to confirm the sync completes correctly.
