AutoModpack Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know if AutoModpack is actually working on my client?
When you join a server running AutoModpack, a sync screen appears showing the modpack name and a progress bar while files download. If nothing appears and your mods match the server, the mod stays silent in the background. You can also check the mod's config or logs to confirm a sync session ran.
What happens if I decline the modpack update when the sync prompt shows up?
Declining cancels the sync, so your client keeps its current mods and you typically can't join that server until you accept. The server usually requires an exact mod match, so refusing the update means you stay disconnected.
Where does AutoModpack put the mods it downloads?
It writes files into your game instance folder, mainly the mods directory, mirroring what the server provides. It can also place other files the server sends, which is why you should only accept syncs from servers you trust.
Does AutoModpack delete my existing mods when it syncs?
Yes, it reconciles your folder to match the server's modpack, which means mods not in the server's list can be removed or disabled. Back up your instance before connecting to a new server if you have personal mods you want to keep.
Can I use AutoModpack on a singleplayer world or only on servers?
The mod is built around server-client syncing, so its main use is joining servers that run it. Singleplayer doesn't have a server pushing a modpack, so there's nothing to sync unless you host a world through a server setup.
Why does my client keep re-downloading mods every time I join?
This usually means the server's modpack changed, or your local files don't match what the server expects, so it re-syncs each join. It can also happen if the sync didn't finish or files were modified locally after the last sync.
How do I force AutoModpack to re-check and update my modpack?
Reconnect to the server and accept the sync prompt, or use the mod's update/refresh option in its in-game menu if one is available. Deleting the local sync cache or marker files and rejoining also forces a fresh check.
Is it safe to let a server push files into my game folder?
Only if you fully trust the server owners, because AutoModpack can add any files they choose into your instance. Stick to well-known servers and avoid accepting syncs from random or untrusted sources.
Does AutoModpack work with CurseForge and Modrinth mods?
Yes, it downloads mods directly from CurseForge and Modrinth, so modpacks sourced from those
platforms sync normally. The server defines which mods and versions are used, and your client pulls the matching files.

The syncing happens at join time rather than during gameplay, so it mainly affects load/connect time, not in-game FPS. Large modpacks mean longer initial downloads, but once synced it doesn't add ongoing performance cost.
