Understand What Mods Are Being Checked
How Automatic-potato Scans Your Mods
Automatic-potato Mod checks every Fabric mod you have installed by reading their metadata. It looks for version information and homepage links embedded in each mod's files, then compares your current version against the latest available release.
Which Mods Get Checked
The mod will attempt to check all Fabric mods in your mods folder. However, it can only report updates for mods that:
- Include a valid homepage URL in their metadata
- Have promo version fields properly configured by the mod author
- Are hosted on platforms that Automatic-potato can query
Mods Without Update Info
If a mod doesn't appear in the update report, or shows no version data, it likely lacks the necessary metadata fields. This is common for older mods or those not published on major platforms. You can still use those mods normally—Automatic-potato simply won't track their updates.
