Troubleshoot Missing or Incorrect Update Alerts

Why Some Mods Don't Show Updates

Automatic-potato relies on mod authors to maintain correct metadata. If a mod isn't reporting updates:

1. Check the mod's homepage field — The mod file must include a valid link to where updates are published

2. Verify the promo version field — Authors must set this field to the latest release version for the checker to detect it

3. Confirm the mod is Fabric-compatible — Automatic-potato only checks Fabric mods; Forge-only mods won't appear

Console Log Verification

Review your latest console output to see exactly what Automatic-potato found:

  • Look for any error messages about failed version checks
  • Note which mods were successfully scanned
  • Mods with incomplete metadata will be skipped silently

Next Steps

If a mod you care about isn't being tracked, contact the mod author to request they add or update their homepage and version metadata. This helps Automatic-potato (and other update checkers) work properly.
