How to Make Doors Close Faster for Mob Protection

The Problem

Zombies, creepers, and other hostile mobs can follow you through a door if it stays open too long. The default open time is generous, which is fine for casual play but risky on hard difficulty or in a mob farm area.

Tuning the Delay

Open the mod's config file in your config folder and locate doorOpenTime. This is the number of milliseconds the door remains open after it triggers. To make doors close almost immediately, set it to a small value. Setting it to 0 makes the door close as soon as the trigger condition ends, which is the tightest possible behavior.

A good approach:

  • Set a low value first, then walk through a door normally.
  • If the door clips you or closes on you, raise the value slightly.
  • Repeat until it closes right behind you without catching you.

Combine With Iron Door Settings

For maximum security, also set shouldOpenIronDoors to false so your iron doors never open on their own. Use wooden doors for everyday movement with a short open time, and keep iron doors as manual barriers. Together these two settings give you a base that mobs cannot simply walk into.
