Automatic Door Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the config for the Automatic Door Mod?
The mod generates a config file in your Minecraft config folder on first launch. You can edit it directly with a text editor, or use the in-game mod config menu if your mod loader provides one.
Does the Automatic Door Mod work on servers?
Yes, but the mod must be installed on the server for doors to open for all players. If only the client has it, behavior depends on whether the server accepts client-side door interactions.
Why aren't my iron doors opening automatically?
Check that shouldOpenIronDoors is set to true in the config. If it's disabled, only wooden doors will open automatically.
How do I stop doors from opening for other players on my server?
The mod opens doors around any player, so there's no per-player toggle. To limit this, adjust doorOpenTime or disable iron doors so at least those stay closed.
Can I make doors stay open longer than the default?
Yes, increase doorOpenTime in the config. The maximum allowed value is 10000 ms, so you can't go beyond that.
Why do my doors close while I'm still standing in the doorway?
The door closes after doorOpenTime expires if you're no longer detected near it. If you're moving slowly or standing at the edge of the detection range, the mod may think you've left — increase doorOpenTime to compensate.
Does this mod work with modded doors from other mods?
It targets doors that use the standard door block behavior, so most modded doors should work. Doors with custom opening logic may not respond.
Will the Automatic Door Mod cause lag on a big server?
The mod only checks doors near players, so performance impact is minimal. On servers with many players clustered together, more doors are checked at once, but it's still lightweight.
How do I make doors close faster so mobs can't follow me in?
Lower doorOpenTime in the config. Setting it to 0 makes doors close almost immediately after you pass through.
Doors keep opening and closing repeatedly — what's wrong?
This happens when you're standing right at the edge of the detection radius. Move further from the door or adjust doorOpenTime so the close delay is longer than your pause.
