How to Configure the Automatic Door Mod for a Multiplayer or Modpack Server

Where the Config Lives

On a server, the config file is generated in the server's config folder, not your client's. If you are a player on someone else's server, you cannot change these settings yourself — the server owner controls them. If you run the server, edit the file there and restart the server for changes to apply.

Choosing Server-Friendly Values

Because the mod affects every player, pick values that work for the whole group:

  • doorOpenTime: A moderate value keeps doors open long enough for players walking together to pass through, but not so long that mobs flood in. Avoid extremely low values on busy servers, since doors may close on lagging players.
  • shouldOpenIronDoors: On a PvP or survival server, disabling this is usually the safer choice so iron doors remain a real barrier.

Modpack Notes

In a modpack, other mods may add their own door types. The Automatic Door Mod only affects doors it recognizes, so test each door type in your pack. If a modded door does not respond, it is simply outside the mod's scope rather than a config error. Document your chosen values for your players so everyone knows what to expect when walking through bases and villages.
