How to Change How Long Doors Stay Open in the Automatic Door Mod

Finding the Config File

After you launch Minecraft once with the Automatic Door Mod installed, the mod generates a config file in your main config folder inside your game directory. Look for a file named after the mod (something like automaticdoor with a .toml or .json extension depending on your loader). Open it with any plain text editor — Notepad, Notepad++, or similar works fine.

Editing the Open Time

Inside the config you will find a setting called doorOpenTime. This value is measured in milliseconds, so a value of 2500 means the door stays open for two and a half seconds after it opens. The mod allows values from 0 up to 10000 (ten seconds).

  • Lower the number if you want doors to snap shut quickly behind you, which is useful for mob-proofing a base.
  • Raise the number if you move slowly (for example while carrying items, riding a mount, or playing with a controller) and keep getting clipped by closing doors.

Save the file and either restart the game or use the in-game config reload if your mod loader supports it. Test by walking through a door and counting how long it stays open. If it feels too fast or too slow, tweak the number again — the change is instant once reloaded.
