How to Use the AutoFish Item Filter (and Why It Fails in Multiplayer)

What the Filter Does

The item filter lets you tell AutoFish which catches you care about. Instead of keeping everything, you configure a list of items, and the mod uses that list to decide what to do with each catch. This is useful for AFK sessions where you only want treasure-tier loot or specific fish and would rather not fill your inventory with junk.

Setting It Up

Open the AutoFish GUI and find the item filter section. Add the items you want to keep by selecting them from the list or entering them, depending on how the interface presents it. Save the configuration. Then fish normally with the mod toggled on and confirm that unwanted catches are being handled according to your filter rather than piling up.

The Multiplayer Limitation

On multiplayer servers the filter does not function. The server does not send your client enough information about each catch for the mod to identify and sort it reliably, so the filter is effectively ignored and everything is kept. Plan around this: in singleplayer the filter works as configured, but on a server expect a full inventory and clear it manually. Do not assume a filter that works in your test world will behave the same way online.
