Disable auto-smelting for specific ore types

Why disable auto-smelting

You might want certain ores to drop raw variants instead of ingots if:

  • You're using mods that require raw ore for crafting
  • You want to keep the vanilla progression for specific ores
  • You need raw ore for trading or other mechanics
  • You want to control which ores benefit from auto-smelting

Configure selective auto-smelting

Open the mod's configuration file and locate the ore list. Most configurations use a whitelist or blacklist system:

  • Whitelist mode: Only ores you explicitly list will auto-smelt. Add the ore names you want affected
  • Blacklist mode: All ores auto-smelt except those you exclude. Remove unwanted ores from the list

Ore names typically follow the format modname:ore_name (for example, minecraft:iron_ore).

Test your changes

Save the configuration file, restart your game, and mine the affected ore blocks to verify they now behave as intended. If an ore still auto-smelts when it shouldn't, double-check the spelling and format of the ore name in your config file.
