Auto Feed Animals Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need to do anything special to make animals breed?
No—animals will breed automatically when they're in the right conditions, but they still need to be close to each other and have access to food naturally available in their environment. You don't need to hand-feed them wheat or carrots like in vanilla Minecraft.
Why aren't my crops growing after I planted them?
You need to till your farmland twice with a hoe instead of once. Right-click the same dirt block twice to prepare it properly for seeds.
How close do animals need to be to crops for replanting to work?
Animals will interact with crops in the soil around them as they move and graze, but they work best when kept in a pen directly adjacent to or overlapping your crop fields.
Can I use this mod with other farming mods?
This mod changes core farming mechanics, so compatibility depends on what other mods do. If another mod also modifies breeding or tilling, they may conflict—test them together in a small world first.
Do all animals breed automatically or just certain ones?
Cows, pigs, and sheep breed automatically with this mod. Other animals may not have the same automatic breeding behavior.
Will my animals breed if they're in separate pens?
Animals need to be close to each other to breed, so they should be in the same pen or adjacent areas for breeding to occur reliably.
Does double-tilling farmland affect crop growth speed?
Double-tilling is required for crops to grow at all with this mod—it's part of the balance change, not a speed modifier.
Can animals replant crops if I'm not nearby?
Yes, animals will continue to interact with and replant crops even when you're not watching, as long as they're in the pen with the farmland.
What happens if I use a hoe on farmland only once?
The farmland won't be properly prepared, and crops planted there won't grow. You must till the same block twice for it to work.
Does this mod cause lag with large farms and many animals?
Large setups with many animals and crops will use more resources than vanilla farming, so performance depends on your computer and world settings—test with a moderate-sized farm first.
