AuroraRT Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on AuroraRT Shaders after installing it?
Open Options > Video Settings > Shaders, then locate and select AuroraRT from your shader list. Click Apply and the shaders will load into your world immediately.
Why do my shadows look choppy or blocky?
Shadow quality is tied to performance settings. Open the shader options menu (usually by pressing a hotkey in-game or via Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options) and increase the shadow map resolution or quality slider to smooth them out, though this will impact frame rate.
Can I use AuroraRT with other mods?
AuroraRT works with most mods, but mods that heavily alter lighting, water rendering, or the sky may conflict. Test your mod combination in a test world first; if you see visual glitches, try disabling conflicting mods or shader features.
My water looks weird or doesn't reflect properly—what's wrong?
Check the shader options for water reflection and clarity settings. If reflections are disabled or set too low, enable them and increase the reflection quality. Also ensure your render distance isn't set too low, as this can limit what the water reflects.
How do I make caves brighter without losing the atmosphere?
Open shader options and look for torch glow, light spread, or cave brightness settings. Increase these gradually to brighten caves while keeping shadows intact; going too high will wash out the cave atmosphere.
Is AuroraRT heavy on performance? Will it lag my game?
AuroraRT is moderately demanding depending on your settings. Start with medium shadow quality and reflection settings, then adjust down if you drop below your target frame rate, or up if your GPU has headroom.
Can I customize the sunset and sky colors?
Yes—open the shader options menu and look for sky, atmosphere, or color customization settings. You can usually adjust sunset hue, cloud appearance, and overall sky tone to match your preference.
Why do my clouds look flat or disappear at certain angles?
Cloud rendering depends on shader options and render distance. Check if cloud quality is enabled in shader settings and increase render distance if clouds are popping in and out; very low render distances can cause this.
Do I need to change my graphics card settings for AuroraRT to work?
No—AuroraRT works with standard Minecraft graphics settings. However, if you're getting low frame rates, you can lower in-game render distance or enable fast graphics mode to help, independent of the shader itself.
Why do some blocks or items look wrong or overly bright?
This usually happens with mods that add custom blocks or items that don't have proper shader support. Try disabling the shader temporarily to confirm, then report the specific block to the shader's support channels; you may also find a compatibility patch or workaround.
