Stop Repetitive Sound Spam from the Same Location

The Duplication Control System

Audio Engine Tweaks Mod limits how many identical sounds can play from the same block coordinate in a single tick. This prevents overwhelming repetition—for example, multiple block break sounds stacking on top of each other.

Adjusting Duplication Limits

1. Open your mod config through ModMenu or the config file.

2. Locate the maxDuplicatedSounds setting. This controls how many instances of the same sound can play from one block per tick.

3. Adjust the value:

  • Lower values (e.g., 2–3) create a cleaner, less chaotic soundscape.
  • Higher values (e.g., 8+) allow more layered sound instances, useful if you want fuller audio during rapid events.

4. Save and reload your game to apply changes.

What This Doesn't Affect

MASTER and MUSIC sounds bypass duplication checks entirely, so menu sounds and background music won't be limited. Other sound types respect the duplication rule regardless of priority category.
