Reduce Sound Stuttering and Cutoffs During Intense Moments

Understanding Sound Pool Overflow

When many sounds play simultaneously—like during combat, explosions, or rain—Minecraft's sound pool fills up and stops playing new sounds. Audio Engine Tweaks Mod prevents this by prioritizing important sounds and skipping less critical ones.

How to Optimize for Your Situation

1. Open the mod config via ModMenu or by editing the config file directly.

2. Identify your problem sound type. If you're missing:

  • Mob sounds during combat → check HOSTILE and NEUTRAL thresholds
  • Block break/place sounds → check BLOCKS threshold
  • Weather ambience → check WEATHER threshold

3. Increase the threshold percentage for that category. Higher percentages allow more sounds to play before skipping begins.

4. Lower competing categories if needed. For example, reduce AMBIENT to make room for HOSTILE sounds.

5. Test in-game by recreating the scenario (e.g., spawning mobs, breaking blocks rapidly).

Important Notes

MASTER and VOICE sounds always play—these are critical. If you're still missing sounds after adjusting thresholds, your pool may be genuinely overloaded; consider lowering less important categories like WEATHER or AMBIENT further.
