How to change the global minecart speed with the gamerule
The mod's main control is a single gamerule that sets how fast carts can travel in your world.
Steps
1. Make sure you can run commands. You need operator permissions, or cheats enabled in a singleplayer world.
2. Check the current value by running the gamerule with no number:
/gamerule minecartMaxSpeed
3. Set a new value by adding a number:
/gamerule minecartMaxSpeed <value>
4. Place a short test track with powered rails, get in a cart and ride it.
5. Adjust the value up or down until the ride feels right.
Tips
- Raise the value in small steps rather than jumping straight to the maximum. Vanilla carts top out at 8 m/s, and the mod can go up to 34 m/s depending on configuration.
- At high speeds you can outrun chunk loading, especially on servers. If the world stutters or you see terrain popping in ahead of you, lower the value.
- The gamerule is saved per world. On a server, set it once in the server console or in-game as an operator.
- This value is the general speed cap. The rider-specific gamerules (see the other guides) can give players, mobs and empty carts their own speeds.
