Audaki Cart Engine Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I make minecarts faster?
Run `/gamerule minecartMaxSpeed ` in your world to set the global cart speed. The mod can raise the cap from vanilla's 8 m/s up to 34 m/s, depending on the value you set.
How do I check what my current minecart speed is set to?
Type `/gamerule minecartMaxSpeed` with no value and the game will report the current setting. Do the same with the rider-specific gamerules to check those.
Can I have different speeds for player carts and mob carts?
Yes. Use `minecartMaxSpeedPlayerRider` for carts you ride, `minecartMaxSpeedOtherRider` for mobs and other entities, and `minecartMaxSpeedEmptyRider` for empty rideable carts. For example, you can keep your own ride fast and leave empty carts slower.
My gamerule command says unknown or doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?
Check that the spelling and capitalization match exactly (e.g. `minecartMaxSpeed`), and that you have operator permissions or cheats enabled. Gamerules are also saved per world, so set them in each world you play.
Does my cart keep its speed on hills, corners and diagonals?
Yes, the mod is built so carts hold their momentum on slopes, curves and diagonal track instead of bleeding speed like vanilla. You don't need special rails for this, just lay track as you normally would.
How do I stop a fast cart exactly at a station?
The mod is designed for precise 1-tile braking, so place your brake the usual vanilla way, with an unpowered powered rail at the stop point. Test with your own speed setting and add a little run-up of plain track before the station.
Will this break my existing vanilla rail lines and redstone contraptions?
The mod aims to keep vanilla mechanics intact, so normal rails, powered rails, detectors and brakes still work. Very high speeds can change the timing of contraptions, so retest any precisely timed ones after changing the gamerule.
Is there a risk in setting the speed as high as possible?
Very fast carts cover ground quicker than chunks can load, which can cause lag or carts running into unloaded terrain. If that happens, lower `minecartMaxSpeed` until travel feels stable.
Do carts with villagers, mobs or storage minecarts also go fast?
Carts carrying mobs or other entities follow `minecartMaxSpeedOtherRider`. Empty rideable carts follow `minecartMaxSpeedEmptyRider`. Set those separately if you want mob-carrying carts slower or faster than yours.
Why do my carts feel smoother than vanilla after installing the mod?
The mod reworks cart movement to give consistent jumps, smooth direction changes and steady momentum, so rides are less jerky and more predictable than in vanilla. This applies with or without a raised speed limit.
