How to build a fast rail line that keeps its momentum
The mod keeps carts moving through hills, corners and diagonals, so a track designed around that works well. Normal rail mechanics still apply.
Laying out the line
1. Set your speed first with /gamerule minecartMaxSpeed <value> so you can test as you build.
2. Put a powered rail at the start and power it with a redstone torch or block so the cart accelerates.
3. Continue with regular rails. Carts hold their speed far better than in vanilla, so you need fewer powered rails than usual.
4. Add a powered rail every so often on long stretches, and especially at the foot of long climbs, to top up speed.
5. Use curves and diagonal runs freely. The mod is designed to keep carts moving smoothly through direction changes.
Testing and tuning
- Ride the whole line once at your target speed. Look for spots where the cart slows, and add a powered rail there.
- Keep an eye on chunk loading. Very fast carts can outpace it, so lower the speed gamerule if terrain lags behind you.
- Place a solid block or a safe buffer at the end of the line so a cart that overshoots doesn't throw you into something dangerous.
- Jumps are meant to be consistent, so once a gap works at a given speed it should keep working. Retest if you change the speed gamerule.
