Optimizing Performance While Keeping Visual Quality
Access Performance Settings
Press Right Shift + R and look for Performance, Quality, or Advanced sections.
Key Adjustments for Frame Rate
- Shadow Quality – Reduce shadow resolution or distance if frame rate drops; this shader uses sharp shadows by default
- Ambient Occlusion – Disable or lower if performance suffers; affects ground-level shading detail
- Reflection Quality – Lower water/reflective surface detail
- Nebula/Star Rendering – Some packs allow reducing particle density in space effects
Maintain Visual Identity
Prioritize keeping auroras and sunset colors enabled—they define this shader's aesthetic. Instead, dial back shadow complexity or reflection fidelity. The Complementary Unbound foundation is already medium-tier, so aggressive cuts may be unnecessary.
Test changes in different biomes and times of day. Performance varies based on terrain complexity and sky visibility. If you're still experiencing lag, check that your render distance and chunk loading settings aren't conflicting with shader demands.
