Adjusting Aurora Intensity and Frequency

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu by pressing Right Shift + R (or your configured key) while in-game. Navigate to the Sky or Atmosphere section where aurora controls are typically grouped.

Customize Aurora Appearance

Look for sliders controlling:

  • Aurora Brightness – Reduce if auroras wash out your night sky, increase for more dramatic effect
  • Aurora Frequency – Lower values make auroras appear less often; higher values show them almost every night
  • Aurora Color Intensity – Adjusts saturation of the shimmering lights

Fine-Tune for Your Preference

Auroras in this shader are always enabled by default. If you want them dimmer during gameplay or prefer clearer starfields, reduce brightness incrementally and test in a night cycle. Changes apply immediately without reloading your world.

If auroras feel too intense during building or exploration, lowering intensity won't remove them—they'll simply become subtler backdrop lighting rather than dominant sky features.
