Crafting a Hand Cart and Using It Without an Animal
Not every trip needs a horse. The Hand Cart is the poor cousin of the Animal Cart — slower, smaller, but pullable by you alone, which makes it perfect for short hauls around a TFC homestead.
Crafting the Hand Cart
Hand Carts come in the same wood types as Animal Carts (Acacia, Oak, Spruce, and so on). The recipe uses planks of the matching wood plus some metal or wooden components — check JEI/REI for the exact layout in your pack, since TFC recipes differ from vanilla. Craft it at a
crafting table.
Using It
Place the Hand Cart on the ground and right-click to grab the handle. You now pull it behind you as you walk. Its inventory is smaller than an Animal Cart's, so plan for short trips: ore from a nearby mine, crops from a field, or a single chest's worth of loot.
When to Prefer It
- Tight spaces where a horse cannot turn.
Early game before you have bred or tamed a draft animal.- Ferrying items between two nearby chests or workstations.
Tips
Hand Carts are cheap to replace, so keep a spare near your main storage. Detach by sneak-right-clicking to drop it as an item you can pick up and carry.
