Craft a Hand Cart first since it needs no animal, then load it and pull it yourself to learn the controls. Once you have a tamed animal and the right materials, upgrade to an Animal Cart for hands-free hauling.

Animal Carts are hitched to large tamed animals like horses, donkeys, mules, or camels. You need to tame and saddle the animal before it will accept the cart.

Right-click the Animal Cart with the animal's lead or interact with the cart while near the tamed animal to hitch it. If it won't attach, make sure the animal is tamed, not already pulling another cart, and standing close enough.

Right-click the cart to mount the driver's seat, then use normal movement keys to steer the animal and cart. The animal follows your steering input rather than wandering on its own.
