ArmoreableMobs Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I get started with ArmoreableMobs?
You need CraftTweaker installed, then create a script file and import ArmorHandler, ArmorEntity, ArmorSlot, and ArmorGroup. From there, create an ArmorGroup with ArmorHandler.createArmorGroup(name, chance) and attach entities and armor slots to it.
What does the chance value in createArmorGroup actually do?
It sets the probability that a mob from that group will receive the armor when it spawns. A value of 0.5 means roughly half of the qualifying mobs will spawn with the gear.
How do I add armor to a specific mob like a zombie?
Create an ArmorGroup, then call group.addEntity with the entity reference for the mob you want. Any mob added this way will roll for the group's armor set on spawn.
How do I define which item goes in which slot?
Use ArmorHandler.createArmorSlot with the slot name (like "head", "chest", "legs", "feet", or "mainhand") and the item stack. Then add that ArmorSlot to your group with group.addArmor.
Can I give a mob more than one armor set?
Yes. You can create multiple ArmorGroups and add the same entity to each one, so the mob rolls independently for each group's gear on spawn.
How do I give a mob a custom weapon or item in its hand?
Create an ArmorSlot using the mainhand or offhand slot name with the item you want, then add it to your ArmorGroup. The mob will receive that item in the matching slot when it spawns.
How do I gate mob armor behind a game stage?
ArmoreableMobs supports GameStages, so you can wrap your ArmorGroup logic in a stage check in your CraftTweaker script. The armor will only apply once the player has unlocked the required stage.
Why isn't my mob getting armor when it spawns?
Common causes are a missing CraftTweaker import, a typo in the entity or slot name, or the group's chance value rolling a miss. Double-check your script reloads without errors and that the entity reference matches the mob exactly.
Do I need to restart the game after editing my script?
No, you can reload CraftTweaker scripts in-game with the reload command. If something looks wrong after a reload, a full restart can help clear stale state.
Does ArmoreableMobs work with modded mobs and modded armor?
Yes, as long as the entity and item are registered, you can reference them in your script just like vanilla ones. This makes it easy to equip modded mobs with modded gear.
