How to Give an Armor Stand an Item to Hold in Survival

Why It Normally Doesn't Work

In vanilla, armor stands only accept items through commands or by dropping gear onto them in creative. The Armor Statues Mod adds a proper interaction so you can equip items in survival mode without commands.

Equipping the Item

Hold the item you want the statue to display, then interact with the armor stand using the mod's equipment interaction (usually sneak-use while holding the item, or the keybind shown in the mod's controls). The item moves from your hand onto the stand. To place it in a specific slot — main hand, off hand, head, or armor slots — open the settings panel and choose the slot before confirming, or cycle slots with the interaction key.

Swapping and Removing Items

To change what the statue holds, interact again with a different item in hand; the old item drops or returns to you depending on your settings. To clear a slot, interact with an empty hand while targeting that slot. If you're on a server without the mod installed server-side, these interactions still work as long as you have operator rights, since the mod sends the underlying commands for you. Double-check that you're not in a protected region where armor stand edits are blocked.
