How to Add Arms to an Armor Stand

The Basic Command

Stand within three blocks of the armor stand you want to modify, then run the command /trigger armorstandarms. The command is a trigger-type command, which means it fires immediately when you run it and targets the nearest armor stand in range. You do not need to be looking directly at the stand, but you do need to be close enough.

Things to Check If Nothing Happens

  • Distance: Move closer. The three-block limit is strict, so if you are standing on the far side of a room, the command will silently do nothing.
  • Nearest stand: The command affects the closest armor stand, so if you have several lined up, step right up to the one you actually want to change.
  • Permissions: On a server, trigger commands can be restricted by the server operator. If the command returns an error about permissions, ask an admin whether the trigger is enabled for your rank.
  • Already armed: Running the command on a stand that already has arms will not stack a second pair. It simply confirms the stand is already set up.

Once the command succeeds, the stand gains visible arms, and you can begin placing items in its hands. If you want to undo it later, the same command toggles the arms off again.
