How to Build Complex Shaped Regions by Overlapping Areas
Why Overlap
A single sign only produces a circular area. To make an L-shaped building, a long road, or an irregular kingdom border, you place multiple signs whose circles overlap. Where the circles intersect, the regions merge visually for the player — they will get a notification whenever they cross into any one of them.
Step-by-Step
Decide the overall footprint you want. Break it into circles: a long hallway becomes a row of signs spaced so their radii touch or overlap. Place each sign, give it the same area name, and set a radius large enough to reach the next sign. Walk the perimeter afterward to find gaps — anywhere you can slip between two circles without a notification is a hole you need to plug with another sign.
Keeping Names Consistent
Give every sign in the same logical region the identical name and message text. If names differ, players will see the notification flip between labels as they move, which looks broken. If you want sub-areas (like "Market" inside "Town"), give them distinct names deliberately and accept that crossing between them triggers a new message. Overlapping is also how you approximate squares and rectangles — four circles at the corners plus edge signs usually covers a blocky build cleanly.
