Organize Zones Hierarchically with Parent Zones
Understanding Zone Hierarchy
Parent zones let you create a nested structure—smaller zones belong to larger ones. For example, a blacksmith shop (child) exists inside a town (parent), which exists inside a kingdom (grandparent).
Setting Up Parent-Child Relationships
1. Create your largest zone first (the kingdom or region)
2. Create smaller zones that fit geographically within it
3. When editing a smaller zone, assign it a parent zone
4. The mod will link them together automatically
How It Appears to Players
When a player enters a child zone, they see the child zone's name in their location display. If they move to the parent zone (but outside the child), the parent name displays instead. This keeps the location indicator relevant and prevents confusion.
Benefits
Hierarchy reduces clutter on your map overlay and helps organize large worlds logically. It also allows you to create discovery progression—players might discover a kingdom before finding specific towns within it. Use meaningful parent names to help players understand the world's geography.
