How to Use Tomes to Enchant Armor Pieces Directly

What Tomes Are

Tomes in Apothic Enchanting are single-use items that apply a specific enchantment to a specific armor slot. The Tome of Boots and Tome of Chestplates are examples — each targets one armor piece and grants its enchantment when used.

How to Apply a Tome

Hold the tome and right-click while wearing or holding the target armor piece, or combine them at an anvil/crafting grid depending on the tome. Check the tome's tooltip for the exact application method — some require the armor to be in your hand, others work on worn gear.

When to Use Tomes vs. the Enchanting Table

Tomes are best when:

  • You need a specific enchantment that's hard to roll randomly.
  • You want to guarantee a particular enchantment on a specific slot.
  • You're enchanting gear that can't easily go through the table (e.g., already-enchanted pieces you don't want to reroll).

Use the Apothic Enchanting Table when you want random high-tier rolls and are willing to reroll.

Practical Tips

  • Save tomes for your endgame armor, not throwaway gear.
  • Combine tomes with the Enchantment Library: apply a tome, then extract the enchantment to store it for reuse.
  • Check JEI/REI for how each tome is crafted — recipes vary by tome type.
