How to Use Ender Leads to Move Mobs and Villagers

What Ender Leads Do

Ender Leads are an alternative to vanilla leads that can tether mobs — including ones vanilla leads can't handle, like villagers, hostile mobs, and certain boss-type entities. They're essential for relocating traders, building mob farms, or moving pets across long distances.

Basic Usage

Right-click a mob with an Ender Lead to attach it, just like a vanilla lead. The mob will follow you. Right-click again (or sneak-right-click, depending on config) to release it. The lead doesn't break from distance the way vanilla leads do, making long treks practical.

Lead Variants

  • Flimsy Ender Lead: a cheaper, less durable version — good for one-off moves.
  • Occult Ender Lead: an upgraded variant with extended capabilities, useful for tougher or more stubborn mobs.

Check each lead's tooltip for its specific behavior, since durability and mob compatibility differ between tiers.

Practical Uses

  • Move villagers to a new trading hall without building rails or boats.
  • Relocate hostile mobs into a farm or arena.
  • Transport mobs across dimensions if the config allows it.

Cautions

Some mobs may resist or break free depending on config. Test with a single mob before committing to a large relocation project.
