Apocalypse Begins Modpack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
What should I do first when I spawn in?
Head to the nearest city ruins and scavenge for basic food, water, and surface-level ores like iron and gold scattered in the streets. Prioritize finding a safe shelter and crafting basic tools before exploring deeper into infected zones.
How do I not freeze to death?
Monitor your temperature bar and stay near heat sources like fires, or craft and wear appropriate clothing layers. You can also consume hot food and drinks to raise your body temperature when you're in cold environments.
What's the point of keycards and security codes?
Keycards unlock sealed doors in city buildings that contain rare high-tier loot you can't find elsewhere. Search thoroughly for both the keycards and their matching security codes to access these valuable rooms.
How do I use the skill tree?
Earn skill points through gameplay and spend them in the custom talent tree to boost your survival stats and unlock helpful perks. Different perks improve things like carrying capacity, crafting speed, and resistance to environmental hazards.
Why won't my wounds heal automatically?
This modpack disables natural health regeneration—you must use medical supplies like bandages or healing items to treat injuries. Managing your wounds is a core survival mechanic, so keep medical supplies stocked.
How do I set up Mekanism machines?
Place down Mekanism machines near power sources and connect them with cables to automate ore processing and crafting. Refer to the Mekanism automation guide for specific machine placement and power requirements.
Which NPC faction should I trade with?
Different factions like Survivors, Criminals, and the Military offer different trade deals and rewards. Visit their camps to see what they're trading and choose based on what gear or resources you need most.
Are some zones harder than others?
Yes—the modpack has tiered world regions where danger, loot quality, and mob difficulty increase as you venture further from the starting area. Progress through easier zones first to gear up before tackling harder infected zones.
What's the best way to manage my diet?
Eat a balanced variety of foods rather than just one type, as the mod tracks nutritional balance. Scavenge for canned goods, hunt for meat, and forage for vegetables to keep your diet varied and your hunger satisfied.
Can I run this modpack on lower-end hardware?
The modpack includes many visual and mechanical systems that demand decent resources; if you experience lag, try reducing render distance, disabling fancy graphics, or allocating more RAM to Minecraft.
