Anvil Too Expensive Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Does this mod let me upgrade items infinitely?
No. The mod only removes the "Too Expensive" text from the anvil interface. Whether you can actually perform upgrades beyond the normal limit depends entirely on your server's configuration—the mod itself doesn't bypass any game mechanics.
Why can't I still upgrade my item even though the warning is gone?
The mod removes only the visual warning message. If your server has the upgrade limit enforced, the anvil will still refuse the upgrade; you'll just see no error text. Check with your server admin about their anvil settings.
Do I need to restart my world after installing this mod?
No restart is required. The mod takes effect immediately once loaded, and existing worlds will work with it right away.
Will this mod work on a multiplayer server?
The mod removes the client-side warning message, but the server controls whether upgrades are actually allowed. Your server must also permit extended anvil upgrades for you to go beyond the normal limit.
Can I combine enchantments without seeing the Too Expensive message now?
Yes, you won't see the "Too Expensive" warning when combining enchanted items. However, whether the combination actually succeeds still depends on your server's anvil rules.
Does this mod affect performance or cause lag?
No, this is a lightweight client-side mod that only removes a text message. It has no measurable impact on performance or server load.
What happens if my server doesn't allow unlimited anvil upgrades?
The anvil will silently fail to perform the upgrade without showing any error message. You won't know if it failed unless you check your item's enchantment level afterward.
Does this mod work with other enchanting mods?
Yes, the mod is compatible with other mods since it only removes a vanilla message. However, other mods' own upgrade limits are controlled by those mods, not by this one.
Can I use this mod in single-player survival?
Yes, but vanilla Minecraft's single-player world still enforces the upgrade limit by default. You would need to use commands or other mods to actually enable unlimited upgrades.
Will the Too Expensive message come back if I remove the mod?
Yes, uninstalling the mod restores the vanilla warning message. Any items you upgraded while the mod was active will keep their enchantments.
