How to Plan Multi-Book Enchanting Efficiently With Anvil Swapper

When you build a tool or armor piece with several enchantment books, each anvil step costs XP. Checking the swap button at each step keeps the total down.

Step-by-Step Routine

1. Gather all the books and the item you want to enchant.

2. Start with the first pair, either book and book or item and book.

3. Before you take the result, note the XP cost and check the swap button.

4. If the button glows, click it and confirm the cost has dropped, then take the output.

5. Repeat for the next pair, always checking the button first.

Tips

  • Try combining books with each other before applying them to your main item. Compare the costs as you go and let the glowing button show you where an order change helps.
  • Pay the most attention to steps involving high-level enchantments. Those are where the cost gap between the two orders tends to be biggest.
  • Don't assume the order that worked last time is best. The right arrangement can differ from one combination to the next.
  • Use the same check for renaming or single-enchantment applications. If the button is dark, you're already at the lowest cost.

The mod only reorders the items. It never changes what you end up with.
