Protect Only High-Tier Tools While Allowing Others to Break

Create a Material-Based Filter

Use the mod's material filter to protect only Diamond and Netherite tools. Leave other materials (Wood, Stone, Iron, Gold) unfiltered so they can break normally. This approach conserves your most valuable resources while letting you use disposable tools freely.

Configure Separate Thresholds (If Available)

If your mod version supports it, set different durability thresholds for different material tiers. High-tier tools might have a higher threshold to ensure you never lose them, while lower-tier tools can have a lower threshold or no protection at all.

Alternative: Enchantment-Based Protection

Instead of filtering by material, protect only tools with specific enchantments like Mending or Unbreaking. This lets you safeguard your best gear regardless of material type, while standard tools break normally.

Test Your Selective Protection

Mine with a Wood or Stone tool — it should break as usual. Then use a Diamond tool — it should stop working at your threshold. This setup balances resource management with convenience, letting you preserve rare materials while accepting losses on common tools.
