Anti Tool Break Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on break prevention for my tools?
Open the mod's configuration screen (usually accessible from the main menu or in-game settings) and set a minimum durability value—any tool reaching that threshold will stop working until repaired. You can also use filters to choose which tools, materials, or enchantments should be protected.
Can I use a tool even if break prevention is active?
Yes, hold sneak (default Shift) while using the tool to override break prevention and use it below the durability threshold. This lets you finish a task or reach a crafting table without being forced to stop.
What's the difference between filtering by material and filtering by specific items?
Material filters (like Iron or Diamond) protect all tools made from that material at once, while specific item filters let you protect individual tools like flint and steel or a particular sword. Use material filters for broad protection and item filters for exceptions.
Does this mod work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, the mod is fully client-side, so it works on any server without requiring the server owner to install it. Your break prevention settings only affect your own client.
Why is my tool still breaking even though I have break prevention on?
Check that your minimum durability threshold is set high enough, that the tool's material or name matches your filter, and that you're not accidentally sneaking when you don't mean to. If the tool has an enchantment you're filtering by, verify the enchantment is actually present.
Can I protect only diamond and netherite tools but let wood and stone break?
Yes, create a material filter for Diamond and Netherite only, and leave Wood and Stone out of your filters. Tools not included in any filter will break normally.
Does break prevention stop me from attacking mobs or other players?
Yes, when a tool reaches the durability threshold, attacking is canceled along with block breaking and block interaction. You can still move and perform other actions, but combat with that tool is blocked until you repair it or sneak to override.
Can I set different durability thresholds for different tools?
The mod uses a single global minimum durability value, but you can use filters to apply break prevention selectively—for example, protecting only high-tier tools with a high threshold while leaving others unfiltered.
Will this mod slow down my game?
No, the mod is lightweight and client-side only, so it has minimal performance impact. It simply monitors durability and cancels actions, without adding extra rendering or server communication.
What happens if I enchant a tool after setting up a filter for it?
If you're filtering by enchantment, the tool will now match that filter and be protected. If you're filtering by specific item name or material, the enchantment doesn't change the filter behavior—the tool remains protected or unprotected as before.
