Fix Jagged Block Edges at Distance
Why Distant Blocks Look Jagged
When you look far into your world, block edges appear harsh and pixelated because the screen resolution cannot perfectly represent diagonal or curved edges. This creates the classic "aliasing" effect.
Steps to Smooth Distant Edges
1. Activate FXAA — Open your shader settings and enable FXAA (Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing). This technique scans your screen for sharp edges and softens them in real-time.
2. Enable TAA if available — Temporal Anti-Aliasing works alongside FXAA to blend information across frames, providing additional smoothing on distant geometry.
3. Adjust render distance appropriately — While anti-aliasing helps, extremely far render distances may still show some jagging. A moderate render distance (12-16 chunks) combined with anti-aliasing provides the best balance.
4. Test your settings — Look toward the horizon and scan across distant mountains, trees, and structures. The edges should appear noticeably smoother than without the shader.
Result
Your distant landscape will appear cleaner and less pixelated while maintaining Minecraft's iconic blocky aesthetic.
