Anti Aliasing TAA FXAA Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the anti-aliasing effect?
The shader effects are active by default once the mod is installed. If you don't see smoothing on block edges, check that shaders are enabled in your video settings and that no conflicting shader packs are loaded at the same time.
Why do my fences and leaves still flicker?
Flickering on thin transparent objects is reduced by TAA, but may still appear slightly depending on your camera movement speed and distance. Try reducing your render distance or moving more slowly to minimize the effect.
Does this mod work with other shader packs?
No, this mod applies anti-aliasing at the engine level and conflicts with other shader packs. You should disable or remove other shaders before using this mod.
Will this mod make my game run slower?
FXAA is designed to be lightweight, but TAA does require processing multiple frames. Most modern computers see minimal performance impact, though older systems may notice a small FPS decrease.
Can I adjust how strong the anti-aliasing effect is?
This mod does not include in-game settings to adjust TAA or FXAA strength. The effect applies uniformly across your world.
Why do distant mountains look blurry with this mod?
TAA blends frames over time to reduce jagged edges, which can create a slight blur effect at distance. This is normal behavior and trades edge sharpness for smoother visuals.
Does this work in multiplayer?
Yes, this is a client-side mod that only affects your own graphics. Other players won't see the anti-aliasing effect unless they also install the mod.
What's the difference between TAA and FXAA in this mod?
TAA blends multiple frames together to smooth edges over time, which works well on moving objects but can cause slight blur. FXAA instantly smooths pixels in a single frame without the blur, but is less effective on thin details.
Can I use this mod with OptiFine?
This mod may conflict with OptiFine's shader system. If you experience issues, try disabling OptiFine shaders or testing without OptiFine to isolate the problem.
Why do my screenshots look different from what I see in-game?
TAA works by blending frames over time, so a single screenshot captures only one frame and may not show the full smoothing effect. The anti-aliasing is most noticeable when you're moving and looking around.
