How to Use Shutters and Curtains for Windows
Shutters
Shutters are window coverings that match each wood type. Place them on the wall beside or over a window opening. Depending on how you place them, they sit flush against the wall and can be opened or closed by interacting with them, letting you block or reveal the window behind.
To install: place the shutter on the block adjacent to your window, then right-click to toggle its state. Use a row of shutters across a wide window for a paneled look, or a single pair flanking a small window for a classic cottage style.
Curtains
Curtains come in colors rather than wood types — black, blue, brown, and more. They hang over windows or doorways and can be opened and closed the same way. Use them to soften a room, hide a doorway, or add a splash of color against neutral walls.
Combining Them
A common build is shutters on the outside of a window and curtains on the inside, so the exterior reads as a real house and the interior feels furnished. Match shutter wood to your door and trim, then pick a curtain color that complements your floor. Both are purely decorative and don't affect light or mob spawning, so place them freely.
