How to Light a Room With Lamps and Awnings

Lamps

Lamps are the mod's light fixtures and come in colors to match curtains and sofas. Place a lamp on the floor, a table, or hang it as a ceiling fixture depending on the variant. They emit light, so they double as functional lighting for interiors.

To use: place the lamp where you want light, then check the area is actually lit — if a spot stays dark, add another lamp or move it closer to the center of the room. Colored lamps let you tint a room's mood: warm tones for a cozy bedroom, cooler tones for a study.

Awnings

Awnings are fabric overhangs that attach above windows or doors, in the same color range as lamps and curtains. They're decorative and provide shade visually rather than blocking light mechanically. Place one above a shopfront window or a patio door to break up a flat wall.

A Cohesive Lighting Scheme

1. Pick a color family — say brown and black — and use it for lamps, curtains, and awnings together.
