How to Make Carpet Slabs and Carpet Stairs in Amendments

Amendments lets you cut carpets into thin slabs and stepped stairs so you can build rugs, runners, and layered flooring without full blocks getting in the way.

Crafting the pieces

Place a carpet in a crafting grid to break it down into carpet slabs, and combine slabs to form carpet stairs. The exact arrangement follows standard slab/stairs patterns, so if you already know how to make stone slabs and stairs you can apply the same layout here. Any carpet color works, so you can match the piece to the dye you already used.

Placing them in builds

  • Carpet slabs sit flush like a half-height rug, ideal for borders around a room or a raised platform edge.
  • Carpet stairs give you a soft stepped transition, useful for low daises, stage fronts, or staircases that shouldn't look like stone.
  • Mix colors across slabs and stairs to fake patterns, stripes, or a woven look.

Practical tips

Because these are thin, you can stack a slab on top of a full carpet to add subtle height variation. Use them under beds, around cauldrons, or along corridors where a full carpet would look too chunky. If a piece won't place, check you're aiming at a solid top face — they behave like normal slabs and stairs for placement rules.
