How to Bind a Key Combination (Shift/Alt/Ctrl + Key) in Amecs
Opening the Controls Menu
Open Options → Controls → Key Binds as usual. Amecs replaces the vanilla keybind screen with its own, so the layout will look slightly different. Use the search box at the top to filter the list down to the action you want to rebind instead of scrolling through every category.
Assigning the Combination
1. Click the key field next to the action you want to change.
2. Press and hold your modifier first — Shift, Ctrl, or Alt.
3. While still holding it, press the main key (for example, hold Shift and tap Q).
4. Release both. The field should now display the combination, e.g. Shift + Q.
If the field only captures the modifier on its own, release everything and try again, pressing the modifier slightly before the second key. To clear a binding, click the field and press Escape.
Things to Watch For
- Amecs allows the same key to appear in multiple bindings as long as the modifier differs, so
QandShift + Qcan coexist. - A conflict warning may still appear if two bindings are truly identical.
- Modifiers are captured per-binding, so you can mix plain keys and combinations freely across your controls.
