Amecs Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I actually make a key combination like Shift+Q in Amecs?
Open the controls menu, click the keybind you want to change, then hold down your modifier key (Shift, Alt, or Ctrl) and press the main key at the same time. Amecs records the whole combination instead of just the last key you pressed.
Why does my keybind only show one key after I press a combo?
You likely released the modifier before pressing the second key, so Minecraft registered only the final key. Hold the modifier down continuously while pressing the other key, and the controls menu should display the full combination.
Can I use Alt or Ctrl as modifiers, or only Shift?
Amecs supports Alt, Control, and Shift as modifiers, so you can build combos with any of them. Just hold the modifier while pressing the main key when rebinding.
How do I find a specific keybind quickly in the controls menu?
Use the search box Amecs adds at the top of the controls menu and type part of the action's name. The list filters down as you type, so you don't have to scroll through every category.
Can two different actions share the same key in Amecs?
Yes, Amecs removes the restriction that only one function can be bound to a key, so overlapping keybindings are allowed. This is useful when you want a plain key and a modified version of it to do different things.
How do I rebind auto-jump or toggle individual skin layers?
Amecs adds dedicated keybinds for toggling auto-jump and for toggling skin layers, which you'll find in the controls menu like any other action. Assign them to whatever key or combination you prefer.
My keybind conflicts with another mod — what happens?
Amecs allows overlapping keybindings, so both actions can be bound to the same key without the menu blocking you. Whether both actually fire depends on the other mod, so test in-game and adjust one of them if needed.
Does Amecs work with other mods that add keybinds?
Amecs provides an API so other mod developers can integrate key modifiers into their own keybinds. Mods that use this API will show up in the controls menu and can be bound to combinations just like vanilla actions.
Will using Amecs hurt my performance or FPS?
Amecs mainly changes how the controls menu and key handling work, so it doesn't add heavy per-frame processing. Any performance impact is negligible compared to rendering or world generation.
I set a combo but the action doesn't trigger in-game — what did I do wrong?
Check that you're holding the modifier for the full press, since releasing it early cancels the combo. Also confirm the keybind isn't being overridden by another mod or by a conflicting binding you set yourself.
