How to Fix Grass or Water Colors Not Changing in Ambient Environment Mod

Rule Out Conflicting Visual Mods First

The most common reason colors stay vanilla is that another mod or resource pack is also editing grass, foliage, or water colors. Biome color mods, shader packs, and resource packs that ship their own colormap textures all touch the same visuals. Disable or remove those temporarily and reload the world to see whether the tinting returns.

Check Load Order and Settings

1. Confirm the mod is actually loaded by opening your mod list in-game and searching for it.

2. If you use a shader pack, switch to internal/none shaders and re-enter the world — some shaders replace water and foliage coloring entirely.

3. Move to a biome you know has a distinct palette (swamp, jungle, savanna, badlands) rather than testing in a single plains biome, where the change can be subtle.

4. Reload resources with the in-game reload key so colormaps are re-read without a full restart.

5. If you use OptiFine or a performance mod with its own biome color options, make sure those options are not forcing vanilla colors.

When It Still Looks Wrong

If only water is off but grass is fine, the issue is almost always a shader or water-color pack. If nothing changes at all, the mod likely is not loading — verify it sits in the correct mods folder for your loader and that its dependencies are present.
