Alloyed Evolution FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I start metalworking if I don't have any metal blanks?
Mine raw ore from realistic geological veins in the world, then smelt them in a furnace to get metal ingots. You'll need to craft or find metal blanks from these ingots before you can begin the forging process on an anvil.
What's the difference between a stone anvil and a regular crafting table?
A stone anvil is used for hands-on forging with a hammer—you place hot metal on it and perform multiple hammering stages to shape tools and armor. A crafting table uses instant recipes and won't work for this mod's metalworking system.
Why am I taking burn damage when I pick up hot metal from the fire pit?
You need to hold a wooden clip in your off-hand before removing hot blanks from the fire pit. The clip protects your hand from the heat and prevents burn damage.
How long does it take to dry clay on a drying rack?
Clay dries over time when placed on a drying rack exposed to the environment. You can speed up the process by placing racks in bright, open areas rather than enclosed spaces.
Can I use a regular furnace to fire pottery, or do I need a kiln?
You must use a vertical pit-flame kiln to fire dried clay and pottery pieces—regular furnaces won't work for this mod's ceramic items. Build the kiln according to the mod's structure requirements and add fuel to fire your items.
What happens if I try to hammer cold metal on an anvil?
Cold metal won't respond to hammering and won't progress through forging stages. You must heat metal blanks in a fire pit first to soften them before they can be shaped on an anvil.
Do I need to hammer metal multiple times, or is one hit enough?
Metal requires multiple hammering stages to fully forge—each stage (stretch, bend, slot, carve) must be completed in sequence. The mod guides you through each stage, and you'll see visual feedback with sparks and smoke as you progress.
Can I use this mod alongside other mods that add tools and armor?
Yes, Alloyed Evolution Mod is designed to work alongside other mods. However, if another mod significantly changes crafting or furnace mechanics, test your setup to ensure the fire pit and kiln systems function correctly.
Where do I find the recipe viewer for smithing recipes?
The mod includes an in-game guidebook and supports recipe viewer mods. Check your inventory for the guidebook item, or use a compatible recipe viewer mod to see the forging stages required for each item.
Is there a way to automate the drying rack or kiln?
The drying rack and kiln are designed as manual, hands-on processes to fit the mod's blacksmithing theme. You'll need to manually place items and manage timing, though you can set up multiple racks and kilns to increase throughput.
