Allow Portal GUIs Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need to configure anything after installing the mod?
No configuration is required—the mod works immediately after installation. All portal GUIs are enabled by default, so you can open your inventory or chat inside a Nether portal right away.
Which GUIs can I actually open inside a portal?
You can open chat, inventory, and most standard Minecraft GUIs while standing in a Nether portal. Some mod-added GUIs may not be compatible depending on how they're coded.
Will opening a GUI inside a portal stop me from teleporting?
Opening a GUI pauses the portal teleportation process, so you won't be transported to the Nether while you have a menu open. Once you close the GUI, the teleportation countdown resumes.
Can I use this mod with other portal mods?
The mod should work with most portal-related mods, but conflicts can occur if another mod also modifies portal behavior. Test compatibility in your specific modpack if you're using multiple portal mods together.
Does this work in the End portal too?
This mod is specifically designed for Nether portals and does not affect End portals or other custom portals.
What happens if I open a GUI and then walk out of the portal?
If you exit the portal while a GUI is open, the GUI closes and you'll be standing outside the portal normally—no teleportation occurs.
Can I organize my inventory while standing in a portal before entering the Nether?
Yes, this is one of the mod's main features—you can sort, drop, or rearrange items in your inventory while inside the portal frame before teleporting.
Does this mod affect performance or cause lag?
The mod is lightweight and should have minimal impact on performance, as it only changes how GUIs interact with portals without adding new blocks or entities.
Will this work on multiplayer servers?
The mod only works on servers where it's installed on both the server and client side. Check with your server administrator to confirm it's enabled.
Can I disable this mod's features for specific portals?
The mod applies to all Nether portals by default with no per-portal configuration options—it's an all-or-nothing feature once installed.
