How to Find and Use Cinnabar in All The Ores

Where Cinnabar Spawns

Cinnabar is one of the less common materials in All The Ores. It generates as an ore block and also exists as a dust and a block form. Because it is rarer than the base metals, you will not find it in every mining trip — expect to go deeper and explore more caves before you build up a supply.

Mining and Processing Cinnabar

Mine cinnabar ore with at least an iron-level pickaxe, then process it the same way you handle other ores. If you have an ore hammer or a crushing machine, crush it into cinnabar dust for a better yield. Smelt the ore or dust if your pack's recipes call for the ingot form, or keep it as dust if a machine recipe needs the powdered version. Check your recipe viewer to see which form each recipe expects.

What Cinnabar Is Used For

Cinnabar is most commonly associated with mercury in modded Minecraft, and packs that include a mercury-producing mod will often route cinnabar into that chain. It also appears in some decorative and specialized crafting recipes. Because its uses are pack-dependent, search cinnabar in JEI or REI as soon as you obtain your first piece — that will tell you exactly which of your installed mods wants it and in what form.
